MASTER PLAN:   Home | Proposed Scheme | Transport | Training & Jobs | Have Your Say

On Thursday 8th September, Slough Borough Council gave the go ahead for SEGRO’s revised and improved redevelopment plans for the Leigh Road Central Core which sits at the heart of its ‘Vision for the Future’ master plan, a 20 year regeneration plan for the Slough Trading Estate.   Following consent of the original Leigh Road Central Core scheme in October 2010, SEGRO re-submitted plans to make use of additional land that has become available for development.

The new Leigh Road Central Core scheme will deliver 150,000 sq m of office, leisure and amenity space, providing two traffic-free plazas incorporating new offices; two purpose-built transport hubs; two hotels; convenience shops; restaurants; cafes; a conference centre; leisure facilities and a dedicated skills and training centre, called Slough Aspire   The new plan also increases open space by 55 per cent.

The plans will help to regenerate the wider estate to maintain and enhance its position as a world-class business environment for existing and new occupiers, creating over 4,000 jobs whilst contributing around £100 million a year to the Slough economy.

A planning application for the Aspire Centre has already been submitted to Slough Borough Council as SEGRO look to bring this exciting project forward ahead of schedule.  The centre will deliver a range of training products and recruitment services to enable local residents to access new jobs on the estate.

Gareth Osborn said, “It’s great that we have approval to progress with the next stage of evolution of the Trading Estate.  The revised scheme will provide the world class business environment that our new and existing customers want.  Since its inception 90 years ago, the estate has been a unique and vibrant location for business, evolving over time to ensure it meets the changing needs of businesses.  This development is a key milestone in the wider regeneration of the estate that will ensure it continues to thrive as a business destination, creating prosperity for Slough through job creation and inward investment.”
